Please see the official press release below with details regarding the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopened Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse. Following the opening ceremony, the schoolhouse will be open from 9 am to 11 am. GHS will also open the schoolhouse during Twisted Wilderfest on Saturday, October 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm. If you can’t make it to the ceremony, you can still come out and sign the time capsule register on October 2nd during Twisted Wilderfest.
Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is October 1 The City of Green and Green Historical Society invites the community to attend the official ribbon cutting of the rebuilt 1885 historic Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse, 5300 Massillon Road, on Friday, October 1 at 9 a.m. The brief ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Gerard Neugebauer and Glenn Witsaman, president of the Green Historical Society, followed by a ribbon cutting, tours and refreshments. In addition, the Green Historical Society invites all who attend to add their signature to the schoolhouse register, which will be included in a time capsule mounted in the archival room for opening in 2085, the 200th anniversary of the schoolhouse.
